A very clean example of a classic 1973 (Roundie) BMW 2002 Tii.
No significant rust noted (no structural rust I can determine, but some paint "bubbles" have been noted in the last few months seen on leading edge of hood and drivers side lower quarter panel and on the lower left air dam). Engine runs smooth, no smoke, no oil leaks (oil pan plug does "sweat" a bit but no true leak, no mess on my garage floor). She was repainted (bare metal, glass out) in a light blue (Fjord Blue) a little over 4 years ago (not the best paint job I must admit). At repaint she got a new windshield. All rubber moldings/seals are new around windshield. Under body and trunk were sprayed with sealer. She had a new radiator out of a 320i and new hoses and belts as of last year. Sorry no papers or documents on the work.. was a verbal report given me by previous owner a year ago. Rather good condition of interior for a 30 year old car. Carpet clean and without wear, back seats are pristine, front seats show some typical wear but no tears or holes. MOMO Steering wheel.
She boasts a working sunroof and a Blaupunkt stereo system with CD player. I must say she is a great daily driver [I drive 1.5 miles to work 4 time a week and take a monthly make a trip from the Florence, SC area to Durham, NC to see my kids. The rest of the time she is garaged]. The sale includes all original BMW owners manuals and CD owners manual.
OK the bad: Dash has a single small crack forming in center (very very small) not visible from the drivers seat. The wheels have taken some hits against the curb by the last owner and show scratches and dings (if I were to keep her I would replace or refinish the wheels). The tires have about 50% tread life on them. Most of her chrome trim show scratches and wear, lots of dings here and there. The chrome bumpers are in pretty rough shape (dents and scratches & pitting throughout). NO AC (a negative in the South).
All gauges & lights work, yet the Clock lights up but does not work and the turn signals do not cancel most of the time. Again I will mention that some bubbles are appearing on the leading edge of the hood and right quarter panel rear & air dam notice in the last few months.
She makes for a very nice daily driver -OR- a car to take to a show car for a bargain since all the parts are there and only some fine-tune finishing would be needed. I have done my best to describe this vehicle, she is a must see, must have for a 2002 tii enthusiast.
This vehicle is being sold "AS IS", and there are no warranties expressed or implied herein. Asking $12,500.00. NADA.com rates High Retail sale price at $16,200.00+. Haha, odd man! We live in Durham, and we own 2 Bmw 2002s (74 and a 76 parts car). Thats weird.
For some reason the listing for sale is still up on some site for over a year and a half now... I still get calls even though this car sold in Jan of 2008! Wish I had 10 more... very popular car these days.
This Car sold 2 years ago and I am still getting calls and e-mails. Amazing. I wish I had 10 more of these. And my wife still says: "I just don't get it."
Was up in Greenville, SC near the US BMW plant. Hey, the 2002 put the Bimmer on the map in this country. Now their new 2-series is touting the continuation of the tradition... ummm, think not. Maybe the 8i.
